Building a startup is a rollercoaster. You are going to have some high highs, low lows, and unexpected turns. Having been on the ride before, I knew that if I was going to do another startup, I needed a model to choose which idea to pursue.
One factor that went into that model was fun. I believe that it's critical to be passionate about the work that you do, and this time around, I wanted to take it a step further and do the work that I really enjoy. That meant working with startups, helping founders raise funding, and seeing people succeed. So, everything about Gum is designed around these values and fun - the brand, the game, the experience - everything.
Surrounding yourself with genuinely good people also makes work more enjoyable. One day, a friend invited me to Draper Startup House, and I quickly connected with the team over similar goals and values around startups.
